Juventus’ first offer for defender Antonio Silva. No from Benfica: the details

Juventus have made an initial offer for Portuguese defender Antonio Silva. The Juventus club, reports ‘Sky’, put five million euros on the table for the loan plus right of redemption set at thirty million but received a firm no from Benfica, the club that owns the card.

Cristiano Giuntoli will now have to reformulate his proposal to convince them eagles to sell Silva, a defender who – for his part – hopes that the deal can go through. In recent days, when questioned on the subject, his agent Jorge Mendes expressed himself as follows: “Antonio Silva wants Juve and Juve wants him. Now it’s Benfica’s turn to decide. We need a bit of patience, we need to wait a few days. These are things that they change in 5 minutes during the transfer window, which is still closed for now. He’s an important player, there were several clubs interested in him but let’s see what Benfica, who have the final say, will decide.”

Two days ago, however, Benfica through its coach Bruno Lage had already made it clear that it had no intention of selling the player on a temporary basis: “Whoever has a contract must wait for the clauses. One thing is certain: whoever wants the Benfica players must come with their wallet and in the last year they have arrived with a full wallet. What we must valorise, and which we cannot sell, is our training center. And the way in which players evolve to play in the first team. For the rest, depending on the market, teams with enormous power arrive, pay the clause and the player leaves.” . Antonio Silva has an off-market clause worth around 100 million euros.
