Aron Anselmino he could be Chelsea’s surprise coup for the winter transfer window. The Argentine was on loan at Boca Juniors until next June. According to what Fabrizio Romano reported, the young defender will leave at the end of this week to join the training sessions of the Blues. The Londoners would have changed their mind and the central defender will join the team to face the last part of the season.

The Boca Juniors defender was purchased by Blues last August for about $18 million. The agreement included his remaining at the club Xeneize until June 2025. However, Todd Boehly’s ownership would have activated the recall clause to bring forward the transfer of the young South American talent to Europe. He will join a long list of defenders: Disasi, Badiashile, Fofana, Adarabioyo and Colwill. The disappointing performances of some of them led to speeding up the process and inserting him into Maresca’s group earlier than expected.
Anselmino gained relevance in Boca as the matches went by. Although he wasn’t a starter at the start, he established himself in Fernando Gago’s eleven. He showed good sensations in the center of defense, playing a total of 18 games in 2024 (two goals and three assists). His team failed to qualify directly for the Copa Libertadores, but will face the winner of Nacional del Paraguay and Alianza Lima in the preliminary phase, with the aim of advancing to the groups.
