The matches against Cagliari (in the championship) and Atalanta (in the Italian Super Cup) are approaching for Inter, but at the same time the opening of the January transfer window is also approaching. It is difficult to expect major Nerazzurri movements in the winter window, but above all in view of next summer, the management plans to make several changes, in line with the new dictates of the Oaktree ownership.
Marotta’s words on Oaktree
“We always work with a view to ensuring that Inter’s path is successful and full of results. Not much has changed, other than the absolute dedication and commitment that I had and that today I have even more”: thus the Inter president Giuseppe Marotta – in an interview with Sky Sport – described his state of mind for his new role as number 1 of the Nerazzurri club. And then he added on Oaktree: “She arrived on tiptoe, in a very silent way, but in a very concrete way and involved in the life of the club, the discussion is continuous and daily, positive, all aimed at guaranteeing continuity for the club, to ensure economic-financial sustainability”.
Sustainability translated onto the market: young people are arriving, but remaining at the top
These words were then explored in depth by Marotta himself, speaking of the market: “This sustainability occurs through agreed guidelines, that is, composing a squad that responds to economic limits from the point of view of labor costs, at an average age that can guarantee the fact of investing in young people who represent an asset”. Then again, regarding the desire to lower the average age of Inzaghi’s team: “This is what we are doing and what we will do most in the future season. Guarantee maximum competitiveness through players who are perhaps less old than those we have today, but who represent also quality, professionalism and heritage”. In short, the line is clear: modernize while remaining competitive. The purchase of Palacios was the first sign, but in the summer various profiles will be evaluated to understand whether to continue with them or to renew.
