Last January it was Dragusin, in the summer it was Retegui and Gudmundsson, now Morten Frendrup is the great candidate to leave Genoa in the next transfer window, on the usual condition that a nice handful of millions of euros come into the coffers. In recent weeks the spotlight of the big Serie A squares has turned on the Danish midfielder. Perennially among the best on the Grifone pitch in this first part of the season which is anything but simple and linear, it is impossible for almost everyone not to fall in love with his tenacity, the continuity and the energy that the new Danish international is able to transmit, who represented his country’s selection for the first time last September.
The one who seems really intent on getting serious about Frendrup already in this winter window is Milan. On the other hand, the Rossoneri have a strong need for reinforcements in midfield, even just in terms of numbers, and a signing like that of the Genoa player would be a breath of fresh air to allow Fonseca to manage the rotations. Fiorentina has similar quantitative problems, but it doesn’t seem to be able to afford the 20 million good arguments needed to convince Genoa to get rid of Frendrup right now.
However, the Devil is not alone: watch out for an outsider – on the pitch, but also on the transfer market – like Atalanta. A profile like that of the Genoa player really seems to fit perfectly with Gasperini’s idea of playing. Fiorentina is also among the teams interested in January in Italy. To further shuffle the cards on the table, however, there could be the recently concluded change of ownership of Genoa: if the new number one Sucu, who has declared recapitalization and relaunch in his plans, were against everything would risk falling apart.
