The news of the day doesn’t concern a player, but an entire club: Genoa changes hands. With an investment of 45 million euros, the new majority shareholder will be the Romanian entrepreneur Dan Sucu. What changes now? We will certainly undergo a transformation of Genoa as we know it now. But it is still early to be able to say how it will be renovated and what kind of changes there will be also in view of the next January transfer window. Certainly this acquisition – which arrived in time to be able to determine in a few days – will serve to not only give new solidity to the club, but also to try to improve the team. Sucu is already a protagonist in football: at home, in Romania, he is the owner of Rapid Bucharest, another historic club (just like Genoa) with more than 100 years of history. He has invested in the infrastructure and organization of the youth sector: we could say that this (also reading the statement from the rossoblu club) could be the underlying philosophy of the new ownership.
Despite the negative period and the dispute a few days ago, Milan continues to place full trust in Fonseca. It is not believed that the dressing room does not follow the coach and it is not believed that the methods used by the Portuguese so far are excessive. Of course, we expect a response to arrive on the pitch, in terms of results, as soon as possible, starting from the next one against Verona, when we expect a convincing performance and above all the 3 points. This situation of eternal uncertainty does not help, not even in the challenges that Fonseca is now facing in making his boys understand the new guidelines: both on and off the pitch. It’s obvious that injuries don’t help, but the solution is unlikely to come from the market. Meanwhile, we are currently working on renewals. Not only that of Theo (which is quite urgent) and which is not bound to the measures recently taken against the full-back, but also for Maignan (also urgent, current deadline 2026) and Reijnders. For both, a new horizon has been outlined (2029) and a new salary: for Maignan in line with the team’s big names (Leao and Theo) for Reijnders, around 3 million euros).
Roma has begun to think about its evolution (or revolution, if you prefer). Ranieri knows he won’t be next year’s coach, but that doesn’t change anything at all. Because Ranieri himself will be one of the pillars on which Roma is resting and will lay its foundations. And therefore all the considerations that will be made at this moment have a planning nature. Starting, obviously, with the big names. Galatasaray’s interest in Dybala cannot go undisturbed. It is not correct to speak of negotiations (yet) but of strong interest. Roma had already negotiated his transfer: and even with Ranieri the music fundamentally doesn’t change. Everyone likes Dybala, everyone would like to keep him, but no one would stop him if he wanted to go. This is the official and unofficial position. Galatasaray have wanted him for a long time, they would give him a contract worth 10 million euros (certainly higher than the current one, expiring although automatically renewed with few appearances). His agent was in Istanbul, also to talk about young Argentines, but he certainly saw first-hand the desire for the Gala.
We therefore return to the situation of a few months ago. Then it was Arabia and there began, at least at a media level, a sort of dribble of responsibility regarding the possible farewell: if the player wants to go, let him go, if the club wants to sacrifice me, let them say so. Not to mention the price tag: even then the Saudi offer was very low as Gala would now like (even more so since the boy’s contract is expiring), while Roma would like a more substantial compensation.
Given that the changes are underway in Rome, it doesn’t mean that we won’t decide to speed up a session. And this reasoning can also calmly apply to other very important players who are no longer untransferable or untouchable: just to name three, Pellegrini, Cristante and Mancini.
For sure – regardless of the absences – we need a right winger, a central defender and a deputy Dobvyk. And the financing for these grafts can come from departures.
As we know, Juventus is looking for at least one defender. Antonio Silva is certainly the most interesting name that Juventus is dealing with, followed by Luiz Felipe (now a free agent). But at the moment the Bianconeri do not seem to want to accelerate in order to have the possibility of finding better exit conditions (even by following other paths) and at the same time not going in search of a striker, but also thinking about exits that could finance the incoming market. Like for example that of Fagioli. Still no acceleration in attack: but ongoing discussions with Vlahovic given that his contract will expire in 2026 and Juventus’ desire would be to be able to extend the contract, while trying to reduce the salary.
However, the destinies of Napoli and Juventus could cross in the market. Not only are the two teams looking for a defender with high priority, but Napoli is looking for one from Juventus: Danilo. The captain has publicly said that he has no intention of leaving the team in January, but this has not demoralized Napoli. It is obvious that Juventus will be ready to give up their defender only if two more arrive. At the same time, Napoli could pursue the same goals as the Bianconeri. Or he could entice Juventus with the striker: Raspadori. So far a hypothetical exchange between the two has not taken root. But the market – in fact – has just begun and some ideas can even be revitalized. In short, a complex strategy, which has necessarily changed given Buongiorno’s injury. If before the defender was an opportunity to be seized, now it has become a necessity, to be closed as quickly as possible.
In Naples they will then have to modify the squad compared to the tactical change that Conte made at the beginning of the season. No longer 343 as expected, but 433. So much less space for Spinazzola (who will leave) and Biraghi already optioned in his place. And then a midfield addition: a link player would be needed (like Zielinski, so to speak), but in the meantime the Matic hypothesis also arises (who has already worked with Conte at Chelsea).
Dele Alli will arrive in Como on Christmas Eve: he won’t be a new signing. He will start training with the team as a free agent: having not played since August 2022 (last appearance in the Everton shirt before a serious muscle tear and termination) he must regain his athletic condition. Como will give him this opportunity and will evaluate whether to sign him after this period
