Scott McTominay, Napoli midfieldergave an interview to the Scottish edition of BBC. Starting again from the choice to leave Manchester United to wear the blue shirt and play in Serie A: “It was an important decision, but in a certain sense also quite simple. I saw passionate fans, the coach and the players, in them I saw an opportunity and I took it. I don’t look back, I knew it was what I wanted and I have no regrets.
McTominay continues: “I love this place, I love the fans and my teammates. It was a pleasure to share this with Billy Gilmour every day, we helped each other a lot. Leaving Old Trafford was my decision, the club’s and the manager’s. It’s easy for a club to make a decision like that with a player who grew up in the academy.”
McTominay then concludes: “My last day in Manchester was complicated, especially when I had to say goodbye to everyone. But football and life are like that… I then spoke to Ten Hag and he expressed his thoughts on the situation. I told him to listening to me, that it was my career and that I was there to push it forward. I had to follow my instincts and do what I wanted with my career, without letting external factors hold me back. I love Manchester United to death, it’s been my life for 22 years but now we move forward and to Napoli I’m having a lot of fun.”
