The 2025 European Super Cup will be played in the Bluenergy Stadium in Udine. The decision was made official today during the UEFA Executive Committee: the match between the winners of the 2024/25 Champions League and 2024/25 Europa League will take place on 13 August.
Last March, Magda Pozzo expressed herself as follows on the Udine stadium, the jewel in the crown of Italian football: “In the last six years of working with Bluenergy, sustainability has been a fundamental shared value. For many years, in fact, the Bluenergy Stadium has been powered by energy coming exclusively from renewable sources, thus avoiding the emission of 5,000 tonnes of CO2 to date Furthermore, a few weeks ago we presented the solar park that will be built at the Bluenergy Stadium: a compelling and unique project of its kind in Italy. In summary I would say that we are very happy with how this collaboration went.”
And again: “Our goal is to make the Blueenergy Stadium the first carbon neutral stadium in Italy and among the very first in Europe. It is a long process but we are fully committed to this. We started with the supply of energy from renewable sources and with a widespread system of separate waste collection, not only in the club premises, but in all areas of the stadium which we are also introducing on match days. Of course, the construction of the solar park will greatly help us achieve the goal of becoming a zero-emission stadium of carbon. We have never seen a project like this in Italy, starting from this spring we will install 2,409 solar panels on the roof of the stadium, without compromising the safety of the system and still allowing us to have a system capable of generating 1,100,000 games kWh of energy per year. This is a very significant figure because it will be enough to cover the entire energy needs of some lots. Regarding the completion of the works, we expect the solar park to be fully operational starting from October 2024.”
