The groups for the 2025 Women’s European Championship in Switzerland were drawn this afternoon. Italy has been included in Group B where it will face the world champions Spain, already faced in the last Nations League, and Portugal as well as Belgium who eliminated the Italians in England in the last continental tournament. A complicated group, but not impossible for the girls Andrea Soncin who avoided teams like the Netherlands, Sweden and Norway (all placed in the third tier like Belgium).
Nordic group instead for the Swiss hosts who will face Norway, Iceland and Finland, while Group C and D are the toughest on paper: in the first France, England and the Netherlands will compete with Wales appearing as the classic ‘earthenware vase’ among the iron ones, while in the last one Germany will face two Scandinavians like Denmark and Sweden as well as debutant Poland led by one of the most prolific strikers on the continent like Ewa Pajor.
