Dumfries: “No pressure for after Hakimi. Another Champions League final? Basto is always right”

During his interview with Republicthe Inter side Denzel Dumfries he spoke thus of his experience with the Nerazzurri, which began after Hakimi’s departure: “Achraf is very strong, but I didn’t feel the pressure. I believe in myself and Inzaghi gave me confidence. He helped me to be more solid and to learn about Italian football I can’t say he’s a friend, because he’s my coach. But he’s an exceptional person, we have a great relationship even if the first day at Pinetina wasn’t the best.”

What happened?
“I thought I’d take a couple of photos and shake hands, but instead they put me straight away. I opened the bag I had in the car and found two left shoes inside. I had to borrow the right one.”

The video of Paul Johnson’s Get Get Down dancing on social networks accompanies every Inter victory.
“It reminds me of a great evening, a New Year’s Eve at my house. Darmian makes fun of me because I had sunglasses on. We make fun of ourselves a lot as a team, now that I think about it. We’re a good group.”

Bastoni says he would prefer to play another Champions League final rather than win his 21st scudetto. Is he right?
“‘Basto’ is always right. The championship is very important, but losing the final in Istanbul in 2023 wasn’t easy. I’ve never been able to watch the match again. We want another chance and we’ll do everything we can to win it.”

Inter scores double in Serie A compared to the Champions League, where however they defend better.
“We talked about it, but there isn’t a simple explanation. In the cup we have to maintain our fighting spirit, but score more goals. Now, however, let’s think about Lazio, they are very strong.”
