Di Francesco defends Candela after the sensational own goal against Como: “We can all make mistakes”

Speaking at the press conference ahead of the big match against Juventus, mister Eusebio Di Francesco he also defended his defender Antonio Candela after the sensational own goal committed against Como in the last round of the championship (2-2). These are the statements of the Venezia coach:

“We’ve made a lot of mistakes, not just him. We’re a little divided between them, it’s our opinion in this case. He just needs to understand that by working on what the flaws are we can come out with them, we can all make mistakes. I would like that individual errors could be limited, I prefer them as a team if they happen.”

The own goal with which Candela gave the Como team a provisional 1-1 draw within the walls of Penzo last Sunday was sensational: the Venezia full-back, also disoriented by the very strong wind that was hitting the pitch, read his trajectory was bad and he beat his goalkeeper Stankovic with his right knee in the 49th minute.

Finally, a joke again from Mr Di Francesco on the next match against the Old Lady: “Even before City we knew they were strong, they are a solid team, especially at home. Historically it is like this. It is a difficult match, but from which it can come also something positive.”
