Luis Figoformer player of real Madrid and Golden Ball, spoke to El Mundo of Los Blancos’ season and in particular the 3-2 success against Atalanta: “It was an important match, but the Merengues always win when they have to. The Champions League is their competition. Despite the initial difficulties, I believe that the Real Madrid will have chances until the decisive moments.
Do you see any similarities between your generation and today’s?
“I don’t like making comparisons, because then someone always gets hurt. They are different generations, the rivals are different, football is different… The only thing that may seem is that the best players in the world play in Madrid. In that case yes, but then everyone has their own style and they are different times. I don’t know how we would do it now or how they would do it in ours.
Ronaldo continues to play even at his age. It doesn’t stop.
“Everyone will know when they have to stop, depending on their condition. I stopped at 36 and I couldn’t take it anymore. But Cristiano is an exceptional boy in everything he does and will always continue to surprise us. I think everyone needs to think about when they have to retire , they say that second parts are never good and it’s better to be aware of the moment you live in. You don’t have to retire, come back and then retire again.”
