Carrarese, Calabro: “No calculations until the halfway point. Brescia? Great desire for redemption”

There Carrarese He’s in seventh heaven. The defeat given to Palermo in the last match played in Serie B was a real coup for Antonio Calabro’s men, who thus brought themselves into contact with the Brescia in the standings, with 19 points and eleventh place. With the placement in the playoff zone practically two points away and right in the next round, valid for the 17th day of the season, the dragons they will face the swallows in direct confrontation.

Regarding the match scheduled for Sunday 15 December (at 3.00 pm) at the “Mario Rigamonti” Stadium in Brescia, the coach Antonio Calabro attended the press conference to answer questions from the journalists present and focus on the gap between home and away results: “We analyzed our path in the championship by observing the numerical data of the points obtained at home and away. Even though it was a common denominator trait for many teams in Serie B, with the three points in favor of the home team as a widespread element, we cannot fail to consider, as far as we are concerned, the profile of goals conceded away from which relative consequences derive failure to achieve a positive result”.

Adding: “Defensive solidity is a first step but which is not strengthened with a submissive attitude, lining up behind the line of the ball, but rather with greater attention to maintaining distances together with an organization in the defensive phase that is even more meticulous in detail I am proud of the season we are having, as I often repeat, but in any case it will be important not to make calculations between now and the halfway point because this group is aware of having to live everyday life thinking of one match at a time, the championship is strange, constantly open and extremely complex, the current ranking is there for all to see: with a victory you can take off towards the top, with a defeat you inevitably find yourself in the last positions”.

On Brescia and the arrival of Bisoli as Maran’s successor: “The change of coach of the rivals, at the start of the match, certainly creates difficulties in the weekly study of the opponent and it is not even the first time that this has happened to us”, analyzed Calabro. “It is therefore foreseeable to have few certainties about what awaits us at Rigamonti on Sunday. In any case, Bisoli is an expert coach who has already demonstrated that he can shift the balance in this category and Brescia represents, even historically, an important reality in football Italian player, who even today can count on a squad full of quality players.”

As for Brescia’s current position, equal on points with Carrarese and out of the playoffs: “At the gates of this season, I am sure that few would have thought of seeing Brescia in these areas of the table and that they themselves would have imagined a different championship up to now. It will be important to keep the level of concentration high and understand the various phases of the match, exploiting their weak points. The boys know that we will face a team that will take the field with a great desire for redemption.”

The absence of organized fans for this away match: “I have had the opportunity to get to know the ultras world closely in the past and I am aware of how stances of this kind create discomfort even for the fan himself, who in every away match, regardless of the distance or the match, would always like to be in the stands to support your team. On the other hand, I also know the coherence and ideals that the fans possess, therefore I respect their choice also on the basis of the great attachment and support they have always shown to the team since I have been here in Carrara. One of the reasons why this team has managed to achieve great satisfaction over the last year is also linked to the strength of the enthusiasm that the local people have constantly conveyed to us.”

On the unavailable: “In Brescia, the conditions of Capello, who did not participate in the last two training sessions due to a flu condition, and Motolese, due to discomfort in the pubalgia area, will have to be assessed. As for Coppolaro, his recovery process is proceeding well, but together with the medical staff we have decided that no risks of any kind will be taken given the delicacy of the area affected by the muscular problem, i.e. the calf. The rest of the team is fine and is available for Sunday’s match.”
