Leonardo reveals: “From Milan to Inter for Moratti, but arriving after the Treble was very complicated”

After the push and pull as PSG manager, now Leonardo He has his eyes and ears open for a new adventure. In the meantime, however, in the interview granted to Alessandro Cattelan’s podcast, ‘Supernova’, the 55-year-old Brazilian wanted to focus more on his Rossoneri and Nerazzurri-tinged past, including peaks as a former footballer and coach.

Starting from the excited transfer from one side of the canal to the other, from Milan to Inter as coach: “I went to Inter for Moratti. A person like him, who speaks to me in that way, because of the relationship we had… I couldn’t say no. I arrived after the Treble and it was very complicated, also because I was very close at Milan: it’s true that I left with an argument, but it doesn’t count for anything if you’ve been there for 14 years”, confessed Leonardo initially.

Continuing: “The president (Moratti, ed.) was decisive: I adore him, I admire him, it has always been like this. He called me to his house, it was almost midnight, a few days before Christmas, a shocking context and I accepted. Before go I call Galliani and tell him what was happening. ‘I won’t talk to you anymore’, he tells me, then I reply ‘I know but I wanted to tell you, it’s like this’. He didn’t give me the blessing but his silence did it allowed us to be more free”, the backstory with the then sporting director of Devil.

But for the current Monza manager he only reserved words for honey: “Galliani is another person I respect a lot, he is an example. If he called me today to do anything, I would go. Both he and Moratti had a huge impact on my choices: it is difficult to understand the relationship I had with the ex president of the Nerazzurri. Carlotta, his daughter, was very active with non-profit organizations and we did a lot of things together. He and I always met, we had a relationship that lasted for 10-15 years.”
