Kvaratskhelia stops. Collateral ligament injury and Napoli relies on Neres

Tile in the Naples house. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia he suffered a low-grade tear of the medial collateral ligament during last Sunday’s match against Lazio, in a clash. The Azzurri club itself announced it in a statement: “During Sunday’s match against Lazio, following a tackle, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia suffered a sprained injury to her right knee. Today the Azzurri player underwent tests instrumental tests, at the Pineta Grande Hospital, which highlighted a low-grade lesion of the medial collateral ligament. Kvaratskhelia has already begun the rehabilitation process”.

What will the recovery times be? Usually for a low-grade tear of the medial collateral the prognosis is around four weeks, so Kvaratskhelia’s 2024 could already be over. The former Dinamo Batumi will certainly miss the next matches against Udinese, Genoa and Venezia, probably also the first of 2025 against Fiorentina and it remains to be evaluated for the following match against Genoa.

The words of Dr. Castellacci, former national team doctor: “Given that he had a knee sprain trauma, he was lucky because the problem could have been more serious. I believe that Conte will lose the player for at least three or four weeks. If the injury is first degree takes three or four weeks, but if the lesion is not there and there is only minimal distraction then the time can be reduced.”

At this point, however, it will be up to David Neres to replace the Georgian champion without making him regret it: born in ’97, the Brazilian footballer arrived in the summer from Benfica on a permanent basis for 28 million euros plus two bonuses.
