Farioli philosopher: “I bring the world of ideas into the world of things, as Plato teaches”

Ajax’s Francesco Farioli will face Lazio tomorrow in the matchday six of the Europa League. It will be the first time ever against an Italian opponent for the former collaborator of Roberto De Zerbi: “In Italy there was no space, I went to look for it elsewhere out of necessity, while now it’s a choice. I worked in four different countries, if I were to return I will take a treasure with me,” he said in an interview with Republic.

Politics and philosophy: “I was interested in the common good, I couldn’t sleep because Italy wasn’t showing its best side. It was a dream to found a party of respectable people but they only proposed compromises. Philosopher coach? I like to make myself questions but I am practical. Plato: You must bring the world of ideas into the world of things”.

The adventure in Amsterdam: “If they had told me that I would be coaching Ajax some time ago, I would have laughed. We are removing the rubble and now we are laying new foundations. This club has a culture that represents me but I try to put things in it that are not in the its DNA: the pleasure of suffering and sometimes accepting not being the most beautiful.” Ajax is currently third in the Eredivisie, 9 points behind leaders PSV and is sixth in the Europa League with 10 points won in 5 games.
