With yesterday’s success against Palmeiras, Thiago Silva led Fluminense, a team from Rio de Janeiro, to safety: on the last day ‘Flu’ managed to win the decisive clash and at the final whistle the former Brazilian international knelt down before kissing the pitch, with tears in my eyes. Not only that: the former AC Milan and PSG player decided to walk the length of the pitch, on his knees with his head bowed. The Brazilian defender, who turned 40 on September 22nd, decided to thank God like this.
“Now I understand why I came to play here and what my mission was,” the former AC Milan player told the Brazilian newspaper O Globe. “We have gone through very difficult months. Fear is part of our life, but I believe that our courage must be greater than our fear. I think we must glorify the name of God because it has been a very complicated year, but now I understand the mission I had to come here. It was my choice.
