The General Director of Carpi Enrico Bonzanini has released some statements on the seasonal progress of the red and white club. He did it on Tmw Radio, on the sidelines of the A Tutta C program.
What Serie C did you find upon your return to the professional ranks?
“Like Carpi, after four years, we find Serie C completely changed for the better. It is a more expendable Serie C and for this I thank the Carpi entrepreneurial fabric, which strongly believed in our project, not only for the victory of the last championship, but also because of the visibility that companies can have thanks to channels such as Sky Sport, Now and occasionally also RAI. Furthermore, the working groups in which I take part on a weekly basis bring the clubs very close to the central decision-making reality of Florence. In short, I find a C closer to B and A than it was when we abandoned it
You currently have twenty-one points in the championship. Do you feel in line with expectations?
“Reasoning on medium lengths with a ruler leads nowhere. We look at the ranking, of course, but the main objective is to maintain the category, preferably without worries, even if Group B is really complicated. Just think of Legnago, which is a strong team and which, after having made two rounds of play-offs in Group A, finds itself last in an ultra-competitive group. In this group, except for two or three teams, anyone can beat anyone. We must remain focused on looking to the next match and no further.”
In the last five days there has been only one victory. What led to the latest less-than-stellar results?
“The real problem was the injuries. I’m thinking of Mandelli, who unfortunately had a relapse and who we won’t see again before 2025, but also of Tommaso Panelli, or Cortesi, who played little and whose performance difference was evident. Not having had these elements or having had them very little has had a significant impact. In these matches, especially the one in Gubbio, this factor was like a scar. For the other matches, however, for example we faced Campobasso on a positive streak and we stopped them, while Ternana beat us and demonstrated that they have a quantity of rotations that we haven’t seen in anyone else at the moment. At a technical and demographic level they have a different structure compared to Pescara. They have a deep squad and play with an awareness that makes them the strongest team. Just think of the fact that Donnarumma, someone who won two Serie B top scorer titles, remained on the bench against us. I must say that Entella also impressed me with their physicality and organisation. They are a square and tidy team, with excessive physical power especially on the outside. Torres is also strong, we shouldn’t have made his life easier with two big mistakes.”
In the next challenge you will face a Sestri in difficulty. Could this be an opportunity to start again?
“We must be honest, the imperative is not to lose because it is a very important direct clash. They are strong and angry, we will have to be careful and eliminate the mistakes. We have had some experience sins, even if Mr. Serpini always provides a lot of information on the opponents. At this moment we cannot afford to make fun of our fans. In this sense I would like to say a few words about our fans, given that our restart was marked by many young faces who populate our corner. We must tell him a story of truth and ambition. Against Sestri we will have to have humility and respect for an opponent who will want to win.”
