Arsenal, Arteta: “In the Champions League we must do the same things we do in the Premier League”

Speaking at a press conference today, the Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta commented on tomorrow’s match against Monaco: “In the Champions League we have to do the same things we do in the Premier League. The tendency is always to look at the Champions League as something else, so how big is the Premier League and how much is is the Champions League big? It’s not like the Premier League has this size and the Champions League has this size, we’ve faced incredibly difficult opponents every week and that’s the good thing.

Now we are coming up against a very strong team in Monaco, they are doing incredibly well and they are so used to it because we play every three days against this type of opponents, so yes, we are learning certain things and scenarios because the Champions League is different in certain ways, but there are similarities in the way we have to compete day in and day out in the league.

How is Gabriel Jesus mentally? Like all strikers they go through phases and moments and that gap is getting big. It’s true that obviously a lot of things have happened, injuries, absences or games not played or started a lot, but his attitude has been really good, it always has been, and we will try to help him overcome the situation as soon as possible.”
