Alex Scottformer England international who played for Arsenal and who is now a TV presenter (23 trophies with the Gunners and 140 games for England) in an interview with Times spoke about his beginnings: “When I think about my origins, my life has had many moments of confusion. I grew up in a residential area in east London, where I witnessed domestic violence against my mother and experienced many part of my youth in fear. Now the kids come to me and are very excited because I am the voice of FIFA, the video game.”
Hate incidents: “Fame has its downsides. I have suffered a lot of racism, abuse and even death threats. When it was wrongly reported that I was replacing Sue Barker as host of ‘A Question of Sport,’ people said: ‘It just appears on television because she’s black, female and younger.’ I was afraid to leave the house because the ‘haters’ said they would throw acid in my face, but luckily there are other people who make me smile.”
