Final result Venice-Como 2-2
VENICE (edited by Daniele Najjar)
Stankovic 6.5 – Immediately a difficult save on Strefezza, as well as the intervention on Nico Paz’s cross shot. Some difficult clearances in the first half, mainly due to the strong wind.
Altar 5.5 – Immediately a good closure on a pocket by Nico Paz and in general a combative first half. Before leaving his country he was declining with Como who too often managed to sink.
From 64′ Sverko 6 – Be careful in the final battle.
Svoboda 5.5 – He closes everything down, but Belotti strikes undisturbed with a feint, neither he nor his team-mates close the gap and stand by and watch.
Idzes 6 – The save on Belotti was great intuition, overall proof of solidity, perhaps he too could have guessed Belotti’s play by shortening on the attacker.
Candle 5 – The clumsy own goal was unforgivable which was a blow for Venezia after a promising first half.
From 64′ Ellertsson 6 – He comes in with the right spirit to strengthen the left flank which was suffering a bit too much.
Doumbia 5.5 – He struggled to impose his physicality in the midfield, it wasn’t easy anyway after 7 consecutive benches. He leaves after a mix-up with Zampano which could have cost him dearly.
From 64′ Andersen 6 – Participates in the final battle with the right determination and concentration.
Nicolussi Ankle 7 – In the 14th minute he understands that the house specialty, the attempt to change ends, is defused tonight by the incessant wind. Not bad: he fights where there is a fight, he makes almost nothing mistakes, he favors the first goal and in general every placed with him at serve becomes a weapon. Just for fun, he then brings down the stadium with a beautiful goal, but VAR takes it away from him.
Busio 6 – Grit and flashes in what could have been the most difficult match for someone like him: he is more of a fine player than a fighting one, but today he never holds back. He leads the action that leads to Nicolussi Caviglia’s goal deflected by Pohjanpalo.
From 84′ Crnigoj sv
Zampano 5 – He goes on the field a week after an operation on his hand and adapting to a position that isn’t his: this must be taken into account, saying that today he suffered a lot. Belotti’s goal was clearly missed, then some other mistakes like when he actually launched Fadera on the counterattack (Doumbia’s soft pass hadn’t helped.
Oristanio 7 – Every ball that comes to him takes on meaning due to his tireless desire to aim. Today the difficulty quotient had clearly tripled due to the weather, but it doesn’t give an inch. And the same weather facilitates him in scoring an Olympic goal from a corner: what a trajectory!
From 84′ Yeboah sv
Pohjanpalo 6.5 – He takes out his helmet and goes to war. A thousand shots, the deflection of the goal, albeit a lucky one, on Nicolussi Caviglia’s shot.
All. Eusebio Di Francesco 6 – His Venezia was called to bring out grit and pride as well as a good game and the answer was certainly there. Unlucky to concede at the best moment for a sensational own goal, but to be honest the advantage on Nicolussi Caviglia’s shot was also lucky. He doesn’t lose his bearings when the ghosts arrive after Como’s comeback: it seemed like a movie he’s already seen, he doesn’t give up and changes as much as he can by finding an equalizer.
COMO (edited by Luca Esposito)
Reina 5.5 – Weather conditions certainly influence everyone’s performance, let alone those who work as goalkeepers. And it’s not his fault if Pojhanpalo involuntarily deflects the trajectory of Nicolussi Caviglia’s shot. Of course, perhaps a little more could have been done. In the second half Oristanio mocks him directly from a corner kick. And, in the final, once again Nicolussi Caviglia hits him on the post from over 20 meters: VAR saves him and Como.
Van der Brempt 6.5 – First half of ordinary administration, in the second half he takes center stage and becomes decisive. First Candela’s own goal was favorable, then he produced his first Italian assist for Belotti. Suffering final, but he doesn’t hold back and fights on a pitch that is truly at its limits and made heavy by the rain.
Goldaniga 5.5 – Very physical duel with Pojhanpalo. He doesn’t make any particular mistakes, but in the long run he commits a lot of fouls, allowing Venezia to gain meters. Ups and downs.
Kempf 6 – A great sliding intervention on Oristanio to avoid worse troubles, the 3-2 goal was born from his incorrect disengagement but the referee annulled everything for an offside which partly justifies his exiting error.
Room 5.5 – From fifth to full back in the 4-2-3-1, it will take some time to adapt as he is appreciated when he pushes and a little less when he is forced to stay low in the defensive phase. Starts well, drops in the second half. From 75′ Iovine sv.
Engelhardt 5.5 – Having a player like Da Cunha at his side who is not used to interdiction forces him to do a super job and in the long run, he loses a bit of brilliance. Suffers in the duel with Nicolussi Caviglia.
From Cunha 5 – In the pre-match, he honestly admitted that he had some difficulties with the new tactical position. From attacking midfielder with license to attack to midfielder, it is not yet known whether due to technical choice or emergency. We will understand now that Mazzitelli will be at 100%. Meanwhile, a test below the passing mark. From 85′ Verdi sv.
Strength 5.5 – His game was overall sufficient, when the man scores, he always gives the feeling of being able to invent something. But he misses a truly sensational goal face to face with the goalkeeper. From 85′ Gabrielloni sv.
Nico Paz 5.5 – The playing field penalizes him and he is unable to switch on continuously, Fabregas is right when he says that we need to let him grow calmly without too much pressure on his shoulders.
Fadera 6 – Some interesting ideas, he is good at sending Strefezza on goal who wastes it incredibly. He leaves the field limping, but it shouldn’t be anything serious. From 70′ Mazzitelli 5 – Still far from his best condition, he makes some mistakes in his setup under the watch of a coach – Di Francesco – who would have wanted him with him at Venezia.
Belotti 6.5 – He becomes dangerous at the start of the match, but Stankovic keeps good guard. Many physical duels with Ildzes who, in the first half, contained him very well. He scored in the second half, scoring his second goal of the season after the one scored against Verona. From 70′ Cutrone sv.
Cesc Fabregas 6 – If we evaluate Como as a newly promoted team, we can say that the path is in line with the salvation objective. If, however, we think about summer investments and proclamations, we can talk about a first round of such and such.
