Marco Reus won his first championship at 35: a joy after so much bad luck

A curse seemed to hover over him that had prevented him from winning important titles at a national and international level. After two failed Champions League finals, a Bundesliga game thrown to the winds on the final day and above all after having lost the chance to play – due to a bad injury – the World Cup that Germany won in 2014, Marco Reus he was indebted to fortune.

The 35-year-old playmaker moved to the USA in August and finally broke the taboo: he triumphed with his Los Angeles Galaxy in the MLS playoffs, winning the title of United States champion. The trophy was lifted by Maya Yoshida, a 36-year-old ex-Sampdoria defender who has been playing in MLS since 2023.
