The Vierzona National 3 club (French fifth division) which had qualified for the round of 32 of the Coupe de France, has been disqualified from the competition. The Football Federation, which had opened an investigation for a “potential fraud”, announced its decision a short while ago: “Following the decision issued on Monday 9 December 2024 by the Federal Regulations and Litigation Commission, FC Marmande 47 obtains the forfeit victory of the eighth round match of the Coupe de France against Vierzon”.
The reason? The club ousted from the Cup had used a fake medical certificate for the license of one of its players. Accusations firmly rejected: “Vierzon had presented an invalid medical certificate for one of its players. As a result, FC Marmande 47 will host Le Mans FC on Sunday 22 December (5.30pm),” read the statement.
