Venice, Di Francesco: “I would have taken a step back if I hadn’t felt trust”

These are the words of the Venezia coach Eusebio Di Francesco to DAZN: “I think we and Como can’t really talk about luck given the episodes of the previous matches. It’s disappointing not to have won, I must say that the own goal cut our legs short despite having the wind in our favour. I still want to do the congratulations to the boys because they started playing again without being discouraged after the 1-2, in fact we had the opportunity to turn it around again. We are working on the emotional aspect, staying anchored to the present without being influenced by the episode is a component that makes the difference difference.

It’s a shame that the 3-2 was cancelled, Nicolussi Caviglia would have deserved such joy for the performance he put in. He is a player who struggled at the beginning because he had had little continuity in previous seasons, but today I see him sacrifice himself in the defensive phase and this pleases me. For me he expresses himself better in a two-man midfield, he is not the classic construction play but he has many qualities to make the most of.

My future? I think I’m an intellectually honest person. If I had read different things and if I had seen skepticism around I would have stepped aside. Instead I feel that ownership is on my side. It’s clear that there are difficulties and we are working to correct the defects, but I am increasingly convinced of the choice I made in the summer and of the constant discussion with the management.”
