Cafu supports Emerson Royal: “He must be himself, with the personality shown in Brazil”

The former AC Milan winger Cafu gave an interview to Milan’s official website a few days before the match against Red Star. The Serbs were the Devil’s first opponents in the 2006/07 Champions League season, later won by Milan. The Brazilian “pendolino” also spoke about his compatriot, among many topics Emerson Royal. These are his statements:

What memories do you have of Milan-Stella Rossa?
“It was a beautiful match. In fact, both matches were. We knew it was a delicate, difficult match but that we could win and from there we could get to where we got to.”

What was Cafu like at the time?
“I was an experienced young man, I was 36 years old (laughs, ed.). I always tried to do well, I felt very good. The World Cup was over, I wanted to forget that World Cup and I threw myself 100% into Milan. After the World Cup I had 10 days of vacation, I started training immediately for this important match.”

About Emerson Royal.
“Emerson is also in the national team, we know of his potential and ability. I hope he can do well in this team, in this club which is beautiful. He must be himself, he must have the personality to play as he plays in Brazil and as he played to get here to Milan.”
