Julio Cesar without brakes: “At Inter I was Superman. Buffon? I couldn’t see him stronger”

The former goalkeeper of‘Inter and the Brazilian national team, Júlio Césargave an interview to Flashscore in which he talked about some steps in his career, starting from the transfer from Flamengo to Europe: “I left Flamengo for free. My father was talking to Porto, then Inter arrived and showed interest. Obviously, for financial reasons and other situations, Inter’s offer was better.”

Then in Milan a truly golden period: “Between 2008 and 2010 I entered the pitch and I felt like Superman, with that red cape. There were matches in which I entered and said: ‘They won’t score today’. And you have to be careful when you are so confident, because overconfidence is insidious.”

Then again: “It was a moment in which I didn’t see anyone in front of me. With all due respect, with all modesty, I didn’t see Buffon, Casillas, or anyone else as superior. Not even my friend Dida, for whom I have a enormous respect, a great goalkeeper and from whom I learned a lot.”

On his love for Flamengo: “In terms of titles, it was fantastic (at Inter). But the place where I was happiest is Mengão. I was very happy at Mengão. I’m not a hypocrite. Everyone knows that the Flamengo is my favorite team. Being able to leave the stands and go onto the pitch, play and represent your favorite club is priceless.”
