Atalanta-Milan 2-1, the report cards: still super Lookman. Maignan is not enough

Final result: Atalanta-Milan 2-1

ATALANTA (edited by Filippo D’Angelo)

Carnesecchi 6.5 – The match begins with a super intervention on Pulisic, stopped after just thirteen seconds. Morata mocks him midway through the first half but in general he performs more than well against the Devil.

Djimsiti 6 – The duel with Leao is quite challenging but, despite some mistakes like the one that led to AC Milan’s draw, he manages to bring home a positive vote. From the 76th minute Kossounou 6 – Good entry from him in a very tense phase of the match.

Hien 6.5 – At the center of the defense he is the usual guarantee, especially with inconvenient clients like Leao, Morata and Pulisic on his heels. Atalanta is flying in this championship also thanks to its top-level performances.

Kolasinac 7 – He uses his head at the right time, extending Samardzic’s cross and transforming it into a perfect assist for Lookman, who then thanks him by making it 2-1. Performance of character even in the defensive phase.

Bellanova 6.5 – On the right lane he commands respect from a somewhat imprecise Theo Hernandez, with whom he started important duels. The only flaw is perhaps the wrong reading on Leao during the AC Milan equalizer signed by Morata.

DeRoon 7 – Captain, leader and assist man, as he served De Ketelaere on occasion in the Nerazzurri’s temporary 1-0 win. De Roon does everything in this team, which has not left alone a single minute this season. The strength and character of the Dutchman are probably the reflection of an Atalanta without limits.

Ederson 6.5 – Class, tenacity and lots and lots of quantity. Even in front of Milan he takes center stage, demonstrating his quality in a big match that Atalanta exploited in the best possible way, taking the three points.

Ruggeri 6 – A game of sacrifice for the other Dea winger, who worked hard and ran for every ball until the moment of substitution. From 91′ Scalvini sv.

Pasalic 6 – He has a lot to do in the midfield, especially in the first half which puts a lot of effort into both phases. The Croatian tries several times to hit his former team, but without making himself truly dangerous. From the 76th minute Samardzic 6.5 – He takes over and from the development of a corner he draws the perfect assist for Kolasinac, who does well to correct the trajectory of the cross and serve Lookman for the 2-1 for the Dea.

De Ketelaere 7 – Breaks the deadlock with a sumptuous header, taking good time on Theo Hernandez despite a borderline save. He showed off some quality shots during the first half, making a good impression in front of his former team. From 76′ Retegui 6 – He has a great chance to make it 3-1 a few minutes from the end but Maignan blocks his way, denying him the joy of scoring.

Lookman 7.5 – When Atalanta needs it, Lookman responds. He resolves a very delicate match with a late header, which is worth the ninth consecutive victory and the overtaking of Napoli in the lead. It couldn’t have gone better than this. From 90′ Brescianini sv.

Tullio Gritti 7 – The second time on the bench is another celebration for Gasperini’s deputy, who after knocking out Roma also took the top of the table by overtaking Milan.

MILAN (edited by Raimondo De Magistris)

Maignan 7 – Against an Atalanta that man-marks its approach is fundamental to kick off Milan’s actions. He was not to blame for the goal that opened the game, nor for the one that made it 2-1. In between, many good saves.

Emerson Royal 5 – Musah’s help is fundamental but not always decisive. We often find Lookman, Ruggeri and Ederson, with all the difficulties that this can entail. Blue pencil error on the corner which led to the 2-1 goal: the scorer is completely lost.

Cage 6.5 – Performance of great personality at the center of the defense: without constant points of reference he still manages to contain the insertions of those who appear in his area.

Thiaw 6 – With patience and attention he played a flawless defensive performance.

Theo Hernandez 6 – Marking on De Ketelaere too soft on the occasion of the 1-0, he redeems himself ten minutes later by starting the equalizer. The duel with Bellanova was high intensity: it ended in a draw.

Fofana 6 – He makes his physical presence count to contain Atalanta’s offensive transitions. It’s not always easy: especially in the first half, the Nerazzurri’s ball handling is quality and very quick.

Reijnders 6 – The excellent foot is there, even tonight. A couple of verticals demonstrate that he tries to make the difference when he can, but tonight against such an aggressive Atalanta it’s difficult for the Dutchman to always be in the thick of the game.

Musah 6 – Fonseca’s equalizer was too naive in granting Atalanta the free kick which led to the goal that unlocked the game. In general a bit of a ruffian, but his presence in the defensive phase is important. From the 90th Chukwueze s,v,

Pulisic 6 – Ready to go and he immediately has the opportunity to break the deadlock: nothing to do. Then he continues to work hard but is unlucky: in the 38th minute he is forced to come off due to a stiff calf. From the 38th Loftus-Cheek 6 – Less dangerous than Pulisic, but just as disciplined. Second half of good application.

Rafael Leao 6.5 – The rabona after a handful of minutes is the appetizer of a positive performance. He knows how to create the right spaces when his teammates escape Atalanta’s furious pressing and find him in depth: in the 22nd minute he serves Morata with a delightful assist for the 1-1 goal.

Morata 6.5 – His movements to return to the field are essential to allow those playing behind him to launch deep. His goal is like a true number nine, in the right place at the right time. From the 78th Abraham sv

Paulo Fonseca 6 – He prepared the match very well, but made the mistake of starting to manage the draw too early. And in the end Atalanta prevailed
