Al-Khelaifi assures: “The Super League has never existed, except in the heads of a few deluded people”

Nasser Al-Khelaifi, president of Paris Saint-Germain, has returned to talking about the Super League ensuring the microphones of Brand: “No, it doesn’t exist. In reality it never existed, except in the heads of a few deluded people. And now, with the new format of the three UEFA men’s competitions and the renewed FIFA Club World Cup, it is impossible. Nobody will support it : neither the fans, nor the players, nor the media, nor the governments, nor the clubs… You know that only two clubs support him; I hope that one day they will realize their error of judgment and return to the European family.”

On the new format of the Champions League: “I think it’s a much improved format for everyone. You see the rankings, the media, the fans… you see the results of all the teams: more competition, more surprises, more involvement. And even clubs that dream of playing in Europe. Finally, and everyone forgets it, more solidarity – 440 million euros a year – for the teams that don’t even play in competitions.”
