Last summer Sebastien Haller he left Borussia Dortmund and joined Leganes on loan. A somewhat surprising choice that is not proving to be the right one, given that so far in Spain the Ivorian striker has only played 525 minutes on the pitch and has not yet managed to score his first goal in LaLiga. In an interview granted to Eurosport Haller talks about it like this: “My start to the season was full of pitfalls and didn’t correspond to what I hoped. But this is part of the ups and downs of a career and a life. I want to say that time will do its job You have to be patient and continue to work to be more efficient. Because in a few days I had many small injuries. They weren’t actually muscular, but more from the blows I received physical level. I have been in Leganés for three months and I had to adapt too.”
Nonetheless, Haller feels capable of getting back on track and intends to work hard to put himself at the service of the Spanish team: “A striker needs confidence, to play matches and adapt to the team. I play in a completely different team to the one I had known in the last three or four years (West Ham, Ajax and Dortmund). And then there is also a mental part: when frustration and a lack of confidence begin to set in, this doesn’t help you perform. But I have to adapt, I take it as a challenge to accept. You must show humility. It’s not because we played in certain clubs that we deserve to play everywhere. My profile doesn’t necessarily fit the style the team currently plays with. But it’s up to me to earn my place and make myself useful.”
