The Super League is still alive: a meritocratic format is being considered to attract more clubs

The project of Super alloy he is more alive than ever and Florentino Perez he still dreams of making it real. As reported Sports Worldthe president of Real Madrid admitted that he had thought of “a new version” during the last general assembly of his club, promising innovations and fruitful comparisons with the most important clubs in Europe.

There are around sixty clubs that have declared themselves ready to join. Their identity is not known but the recent legal victories achieved by A22 mean that those clubs who signed the initial agreement remain linked to the project despite it being officially abandoned under pressure from UEFA and the national leagues. The organizers hope that English teams will be willing to participate in this new tournament, just like Juventus. The PSG of Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, president of the ECA (European Club Association), firmly opposed it at the time and this was also the case for Bayern Munich, who however could reconsider their position if they moved to a more meritocratic system.

The proposed new format would be divided as follows: a first division (Star League) in which the best teams from the five European championships (Spain, England, Italy, Germany and France) and from countries such as Portugal and Holland would appear. A second group of 16 teams (Gold League) and a third of 32 (Blue League) would complete the picture.
