Nottingham Forest and Olympiacos owner Evangelos Marinakis has spoken openly about his future plans and told Sky Sports UK that he is ready to expand his club network. In the sights of the Greek shipowner and entrepreneur is first and foremost Vasco da Gama, a Brazilian club currently owned by the American fund 777 Partners to which Genoa also belongs.
To purchase Vasco da Gama, Marinakis also wants to use the services of Edu, Brazilian manager who built the new Arsenal under Arteta but who – surprisingly – left the sporting direction of the Gunners a few weeks ago. “What I can say is that I would like to collaborate with him on a much bigger project, on a global project,” Marinakis said. “I’m optimistic that if this goes forward, it will be another successful venture for both of us. I’m very optimistic about it, but we have to see how it will be developed and finalized, if and when time allows.”
However, Marinakis has long been interested in joining Serie A as well and even in the last few hours the English press has relaunched interest in Monza, a club owned by Fininvest which, after the death of Silvio Berlusconi, could change hands should the right financial offer arrive.
