Special guest a TMW Radioduring Maracana: it was the manager who spoke Ariedo Braida.
What photograph do you have of your Milan?
“Today, President Berlusconi and Galliani are missing great successes. Milan has a great history, it has written an important part of Italian, European and world football. Milan has been, is and will always be a very important team.”
When did you realize that history could be written?
“When Berlusconi arrived and said that we had to become the strongest in the world. It all started there. He had great champions, from van Basten, Gullit and Rijkaard, but also Baresi, Tassotti, Maldini, Shevchenko, Pato, Ronaldinho, and whoever has more, gets more.”
The most difficult purchase?
“All easy and difficult, but it was important to bring them home. The one who cost us a few more sacrifices was Rijkaard. I had hidden the contract in the middle of my trousers, with the Sporting fans enraged by the failure to arrive.”
Which are you most satisfied with?
“Of all the champions who arrived, from Shevchenko to Kakà, champions I will never forget. And I still have a great relationship with all of them.”
Players but also strong coaches, see Sacchi, Capello and Ancelotti:
“All three are superlative. Three truly champions.”
Did you immediately believe in Sacchi?
“The great Berlusconi had a great intuition. A little anecdote: I was always in contact with my colleagues, once a friend told me that Arrigo was going to Fiorentina. I immediately informed Berlusconi and Galliani and in the end he backed down and came to Milan”.
His most emotional moment?
“Seeing one hundred thousand AC Milan fans in Barcelona at the first Champions League was something incredible. I will never forget it.”
