Fabio Grosso, coach of Sassuolo, gave an interview to Italia 1 after the defeat suffered in the Italian Cup against Milan:
Did you expect a more dignified performance?
“The match was difficult, the opponent showed up to bring home the qualification. There is disappointment with the result and having abandoned this Cup but the format is difficult for those coming from behind. It wasn’t our priority but we could have done better things. We’re keeping this defeat, but we’re keeping it because it’s also useful for understanding how nice it is to then reap satisfaction.”
Would he have made any changes?
“I would make the choice again. The boys deserved this type of match. We had a great match in Lecce but I think it was right to give the opportunity back to those who deserved it. Experience is useful for everyone. The boys keep the level high in training, we certainly could have resisted with more malice and resistance but these are all things we pack in our suitcase and will help us grow.”
How close do you feel to the Serie A goal?
“We know how difficult the championship is but today we also discovered how difficult Serie A is. We have to dive back into the championship, where difficult matches await us. The games increase in difficulty. We must also use today’s experience, which for many in quotation marks is beautiful and useful to enrich our suitcases”.
