A talent a day, Julio César Soler Barreto: the full-back under Scaloni’s lens

Julio César Soler Barreto is a promising Argentine left back, born on 16 February 2005 in Asunción, Paraguay. Raised in the youth teams of Flores Club and Argentinos Juniors, he moved to Lanús at 9 years old, where he completed his football training. He made his first team debut on 30 April 2022 in a win against Independiente and signed his first professional contract in June 2023, valid until 2026.

Soler chose to represent Argentina internationally, despite his Paraguayan origins, and was captain of the U20 national team. In 2024 he participated in the Olympics with Argentina U23, confirming his technical value and his growth as a player of drive and precision on the left wing. His journey with the Argentine youth teams has been rewarded significantly in recent months by coach Scaloni, who chose to call him up for the round of matches in mid-October. No minutes on the pitch in the matches against Venezuela and Bolivia, but a great satisfaction for the Argentine winger.
