…with Fabio Lucioni – ALL MARKET WEB

The farewell to Palermo, a future perhaps still on the pitch and then behind a desk. Fabio Lucioni still wants to play football, he is studying to be a sports director and the ideas for the future seem clear. The former defender of, among others, Lecce and Palermo, who has long since fully recovered from a hip injury, speaks to TuttoMercatoWeb.com.

Lucioni, how are you?
“Well, I’m training. And I’m trying to find the best form even though I’m training alone, waiting for a new call. Because I still have to give to this beautiful world, we’ll see.”

A few weeks ago he terminated his contract with Palermo. The coach Dionisi spoke about the company’s choice. Why did it end between you and the rosanero?
“In life you make evaluations. The company did its own thing and as a professional I did nothing but meet the company’s needs. So we decided to split our paths.”

And how did the coach make the choice?
“He didn’t really express himself on the matter, he didn’t take any position and he didn’t tell me anything.”

He practically never played. Why?
“I was coming off a hip problem which kept me out a bit. Then I did all the necessary treatments, I worked hard to try to get back as soon as possible. After my debut in Naples, however, I no longer had space and so the resolution came.”

What Palermo does he leave?
“A Palermo destined to do great things in the championship, they have all it takes to have a top championship. I think the boys will have a great championship.”

You are historically a promotions man…
“The name is nice. Unfortunately in Palermo I was unable to reach this goal together with my former teammates from last year”.

Is there really a Brunori case in Palermo? He doesn’t play anymore…
“Matteo is a great professional who trains for the good of Palermo and gives his all, he cares a lot. I don’t know if there is a case, these are assessments that are up to the club and the player.”

His former Lecce has changed coach. And since he arrived Giampaolo has scored four points, including a draw against Juve.
“I see a compact team that has found the right talent to achieve salvation. Giampaolo’s impact was positive and Lecce will take their chances to reach the final goal.”

What’s in his future?
“I train, if a call came I would like to be ready. If I decide to stop, I would like to start a career as a director, I’m already doing the course. We’ll see what paths lie ahead of me.”

His model? He had many good managers. I think of Angelozzi and Corvino…
“In Italy the figure is changing. But I met managers like Angelozzi and Pantaleo Corvino who is a great talent discoverer. They are leaders with great capabilities. It’s difficult to reach the goals achieved by Corvino but I’m aiming high and I say that I hope to be able to retrace his footsteps.”
