Mattia Giani’s father, footballer who died in April: “I prayed for Bove and his parents”

Edoardo Bove he scared everyone, but now he is awake, well and has even spoken to friends and relatives. On La Nazione you can read the words of Sandro Giani, father of Mattia, a Castelfiorentino footballer who died last April 14 at the age of 26 after falling ill during an Eccellenza match with Lanciotto: “I prayed with all my strength for him and for his parents, because I know what they had to go through in those moments. Mattia, like Bove, collapsed in the 17th minute of the first half and in the same portion of the pitch. I didn’t want to believe it, I relived it for a moment that nightmare.

Players, coaches and staff, and anyone who ‘actively’ takes part in an amateur match should be trained in first aid, as it can really be vital. It is a step forward, I know that perhaps it is not possible to cover all the fields with an 118 vehicle, but there must still be a medical facility. This must not be a point of arrival, because there is still a lot to do, today more than yesterday.”
