Juventus, Giuntoli: “A defender in January. Danilo to Napoli? The idea is not to sell anyone”

The technical director of Juventus Cristiano Giuntoli spoke on the sidelines of the Gran Galà del Calcio, explaining the start of the championship for Thiago Motta’s team:

When will Juventus reap the sowing work?
“It’s a special year for us, we’ve had a lot of absences, we’re holding on to the qualities of a group of serious and good guys and a coach who is doing very well, we’re fighting to try to stay connected.”

Are you worried about the distance from first place?
“The declared objective is to be in the top 4, we have started a new course with many new players, a new coach and a different way of thinking about football. Paradoxically we are also happy with how it is going, it is clear that the absences have penalized us in an important way.”

Looking ahead to January, what can we expect?
“He’s an interesting player like others. The January transfer window is strange, it doesn’t show the cards until the end. We’ll have to be careful and vigilant and strike at the right time.”

Is Danilo at Napoli a possibility?
“At the moment he is our captain and we are holding on to him, behind us we are reduced to the minimum. We haven’t talked about anything either with Danilo or with Napoli, let’s see, the objective is not to give up anyone and take a player in defence.”

The player who will give something more in the second part of the season?
“At this moment, naming a name would be unfair. I believe that the team will continue to express itself as a team and I believe that many boys who have not expressed their value will do so in the second round”.

Can you also take a striker?
“Right now we are waiting for Milik’s evolution and we are confident that he can do very well, he is suited to the coach’s game. Then if another setback were to happen then we would be vigilant on the transfer market.”
