Inter, Marotta: “Big heartache yesterday. Champions League? Let’s hope it takes us very high”

TMW

The president of Inter Giuseppe Marotta spoke to TMW on the occasion of the Grand Football Gala. It is inevitable for the top Nerazzurri manager to start again from yesterday’s illness suffered by Edoardo Bove in the match against Fiorentina: “It was a moment of great anxiety, fortunately not completely dramatic. We experienced it with great anxiety, the news that arrived slowly comforted us but the coach’s state of mind, players and managers was truly of great concern. As I said yesterday the world of football shows that it is very united and in the face of such an event the two teams decided not to play, clearly a very understandable decision so hopefully we can catalog this episode as dramatic yes but ultimately lucky”.

Inter’s ambitions?
“We have a satisfactory roadmap, we are participating in the two competitions in which we are involved in a satisfactory manner. Soon the Super Cup will come into play, the Italian Cup will come into play, we know that as Inter we have to face all the commitments to the maximum and that’s what we’re doing.”

Can Inter reach the Champions League, as many Italians say?
“In the DNA of a great club there is always the aspiration for important goals. After a period of obscurity we got back on top, we were trying to win the final, we didn’t succeed but we had a wonderful experience. We want to experience the Champions League as a phenomenon that can perhaps take us very high, we do it with respect for our opponents but also with awareness of our abilities and our strengths”.
