Moments of uncertainty, of panic, just over a quarter of an hour after the start of Fiorentina-Inter. Endless minutes in which there were few comprehensible things, if not one: Edoardo Bove he was collapsed on the ground and around him, in a circle that had now become the habit of football protagonists in such dramatic moments, panic spread.
Or nervousness, like when teammates shouted loudly to move at an ambulance that could have risked getting bogged down on the green lawn of the Franchi. Not in Danilo Cataldi’s mindvery lucid in removing the tongue from the throat of his teammate in a very first aid who could also have played his part in the picture. From there he raced at breakneck speed to the Careggi hospital, where his teammates, managers, staff and authorities gathered and where he was hosted in intensive care. The first CT scan removed the life-threatening threat and ruled out acute damage to the neurological, cardiac and respiratory systems, making everyone breathe a sigh of relief, albeit partial. New exams within 24 hours.
This can be read in the official note released by Fiorentina via its communication channels: “ACF Fiorentina and the Careggi University Hospital communicate that the footballer Edoardo Bove, who was rescued on the pitch following the loss of consciousness during the Fiorentina – Inter match, is currently under pharmacological sedation and hospitalized in intensive care. The Viola player is arrived stable from a hemodynamic point of view at the emergency room and the first cardiological and neurological tests carried out excluded acute damage to the central nervous system and the cardio respiratory.
