Final result: Inter-Red Bull Leipzig 1-0
Inter report cards (edited by Raimondo De Magistris)
Summer 6.5 – He was seriously called into action for the first time in the 69th. And he responds presently: he relaxes as best he can on a treacherous conclusion from Nusa.
Pavard 5.5 – The yellow card he receives after eleven minutes inevitably affects his game. Openda’s speed suffers, his race ends early due to a muscle problem. From the 44th Bisseck 6.5 – With his entry, Inter stopped suffering even in the Openda area.
De Vrij 7 – He takes over Acerbi and in no way makes us regret his absence.
Sticks 6.5 – Good in coverage and in the pushing phase, he ensures continuous overlaps with Dimarco. It’s not news. From the 65th Carlos Augusto 6 – Be careful not to make mistakes.
Dumfries 6.5 – He limits Nusa, puts Henrichs on the ropes: he is in excellent form.
Stretcher 7 – Attacks, defends, invents, gets to the bottom. On the pitch he does what he wants, when he wants.
Calhanoglu 6 – In the first half hour Inzaghi would like him to be more involved in the game: the Turk takes a while, but then satisfies his coach. In the second half he lost a bad ball in his midfield, Sommer did well to make amends. From the 76th Mkhitaryan sv
Zielinski 7 – The learning process is complete: at the end of November he is fully at ease in Inzaghi’s eleven, as a left midfielder he continuously communicates with his teammates and makes his technical depth count.
Dimarco 7 – His parable from a free kick almost forces Lukeba into an own goal. A determining factor in the economy of the match: what is surprising above all is the authority with which he plays certain matches.
Taremi 5.5 – His match begins with a slide on the edge of the area, then it doesn’t continue much better: his luck is playing in an Inter team that is so well-tested that they can even afford to wait for him. From the 65th Thuram 6 – He only has one chance available but the header wasn’t easy on Dimarco’s shot.
Lautaro Martinez 6 – Not very dangerous in front of goal, but very involved in the maneuver. While waiting for the killer instinct of better times, he plays at the service of the team. From the 76th Arnautovic sv
Simone Inzaghi 7.5 – This Inter is a spectacle, one of the best teams in Europe. Many important individuals set in a sparkling game. Always well recognisable.
The report cards of Red Bull Leipzig (by Paolo Lora Lamia)
Gulacsi 6 – Some good interventions especially in the first half of the game, in which however he was mocked by his teammate Lukeba.
Geertruida 5.5 – He has a lot to do in the containment phase, having to face the combined resourcefulness of Dimarco and Bastoni. From 85′ Gebel sv.
Raum 6 – He holds his own rather well in his area, being one of the few who survive in the German eleven.
Lukeba 4.5 – His performance was clearly conditioned by his own goal, with a heel touch that put Gulacsi out of action and effectively decided the match.
Henrichs 5.5 – Like the other Leipzig full-back, he definitely thinks more about containing than pushing, but he doesn’t exactly do it at his best.
Baumgartner 5 – Subpar performance from number 14, who doesn’t push much on the right and suffers in duels with opponents who appear on that side. From 61′ Ouedraogo sv. From 70′ Vermeeren 6 – Good last part of the match, for the precision given to the German maneuver.
Haidara 5.5 – In difficulty in the middle of the pitch, an area in which Calhanoglu, Barella and Zielinski dictate the law. From 61′ Seiwald 6 – In the last part of the match, he helped more than anything else to prevent Inter from doubling their lead.
Kampl 5.5 – Rather in the shade, in giving geometry to the team as well as in the non-possession phase. It doesn’t get better as the minutes pass.
Nusa 6 – It should give push and liveliness to Leipzig’s offensive maneuver, succeeding a little more in the second half of the game.
Open from 6.5 – One of the very few dangerous elements in Rose’s lineup. In the first half, with a couple of initiatives, he booked as many Inter defenders.
André Silva 5 – Chosen for his greater experience than Sesko, he does not repay the coach’s trust. It’s difficult to remember a decisive play of his. From the 61st minute Sesko 5.5 – He enters to make the breakthrough, but his race finish is not particularly noteworthy.
Marco Rose 5.5 – The choice of André Silva from the first minute in place of Sesko was not convincing, even if the latter did not provide the desired breakthrough in the second half. A willing team, but not very dangerous going forward.
