Another clean sheet, another victory. Inter beat Leipzig and fly (for now) to the top

Inter fly to the top of the Champions League group. While awaiting the challenge of Slot’s Liverpool, Inzaghi’s team achieved another victory, taking themselves to 13 points in the standings. At San Siro the Nerazzurri defeated Leipzig 1-0 thanks to an own goal by Lukeba in the 27th minute. The Italian champions controlled the game for large stretches of the match, but then after not finishing the match they suffered a bit from the physical freshness of Leipzig.

At the end of the race, this is Simone Inzaghi’s analysis: “You are the only team out of 36 not to have conceded a goal: what does that mean? It has a huge meaning, the credit goes to these guys. I believe that in the Champions League they all played, they took turns and suffered when the time was right. The match against Arsenal comes to mind: they wanted this ranking at all costs and they deserve it. We still have to get a victory and a few more points, one goal more or less with this formula can change, but I’m happy of the team’s maturity. However, looking at the rankings I was afraid, Leipzig has nothing to do with this ranking; in 2020 they made the semi-final, until Saturday the best defense in the Bundesliga. Well done to the guys we played against an absolutely valuable team.”
