Roy Keane was known for being tough when he playeda midfielder willing to do anything to reach his goal, all character and courage. Aspects that he seems to have retained even in his new role, that of sports commentator for TV.
This is demonstrated by an episode that occurred just before yesterday’s Premier League match between Ipswich Town and Manchester Unitedin the first game with Amorim on his bench. A match that ended 1-1 on the pitch, although in this case what happened at the end of the first half is of interest. During the interval Keane, sent for Sky Sports UKcarried out the usual analysis of what was seen in the inaugural 45 minutes. And when he was about to return from advertising, tempers flared with a couple of Ipswich supporters running to the balustrade. One of them shouted at him, in no uncertain terms: “Fuck Keane!”. A phrase that sparked nervousness, so much so that it led to a cryptic and anything but reassuring response: “I’ll wait for you in the parking lot and we’ll talk about it.”
In short, it seems that Roy Keane hasn’t changed much compared to the times when he was on the pitch.
