Hellas Verona, 32 goals conceded too many. Paolo Zanetti plays it all against Cagliari: the point

TMW

Paolo Zanetti could be the next Serie A coach sacked. If during the break they changed Roma and then Genoa, when the games resumed the 5-0 defeat by Hellas Verona at Bentegodi called Paolo Zanetti’s figure into question. What worries the leaders of the Verona club is not so much the ranking because Hellas is in line with the summer forecasts, has won 12 points in 13 matches and is not in the relegation zone, but the fact that the team concedes too many goals: 32 in thirteen races. It is the worst defense in the championship, the average is 2.5 goals conceded per game.

Hellas will open the program of the 14th matchday of Serie A on Friday and Cagliari will face them. An important survival clash for the two teams, but which could also say a lot about the future of Paolo Zanetti who risks losing his place on the bench on that occasion. In case of negative results, the exemption could become reality though at this moment the club has not made contact with other coaches.

At the end of the match against Inter, this is Paolo Zanetti’s analysis: “Uncommentable match, I apologize to those who came to see our unseemly spectacle, we decided to go into retreat to try to find ourselves. Inter are a great team, but beyond this, a lot of tests and things are said during the week things and then we suffer an unacceptable hailstorm. The module was tried to try to contain Thuram’s depth but evidently something didn’t work. I take full responsibility.”
