Yesterday the era of Ruben Amorim on the Manchester United bench officially began. For the Portuguese coach, the debut match was on the Ipswich Town pitch and ended with a 1-1 result, with Rashford’s initial goal.
At the end of the match the manager of United’s opponents, Kieran McKennarecognized Amorim’s immediate impact in the post-match analysis in the press conference: “We certainly could have won, it depends on the perspective one has. We were certainly the better team in the first half. In the second however United had good moments when he was in control. We were disciplined.”
Mister McKenna continues and concludes: “I also think that when you concede a goal against a Manchester United team as motivated as they were today, you also risk the game getting out of hand. The main positive, therefore, was that that didn’t happen and we were competitive throughout the match. For us the challenge was in terms of preparation, some things could be foreseen and others not. This was the challenge. It took us a little bit of time to get the hang of it, but we did it after 10 minutes of first half”.
