The former goalkeeper Marco Amelia spoke to Radio FirenzeViola during “Extra Time” to comment on David De Gea’s moment and not only at Fiorentina: “He is the goalkeeper who has the highest performance and has contributed to the results of his team and for this reason he can be the strongest in Serie A, where there are many strong goalkeepers. I saw the triple save, there were three different interventions on the same occasion and the most difficult is the last one because he got up with a leap of the kidneys which is not easy, it is physically demanding. . Therefore shows that he is in excellent physical shape. Fiorentina played a less exciting match in Como, but brought home the result also thanks to that decisive intervention.”
High concentration?
“It’s the strength of goalkeepers from big clubs, who maybe don’t get called into action much and in that case you have to be ready. De Gea is good at being ready even on the only occasion after being out for 30 minutes, especially away from home where the fans opponents can distract you.”
Positive for teammates?
“If a goalkeeper with that experience puts in those performances on the pitch he leads everyone to put in great performances. He’s responding great, like all his teammates and there’s a positive environment and the performance is a consequence.”
