Vieira’s first words: “You can’t say no to Genoa.” Ottolini: “Thanks Gila, let’s move on”

Patrick Vieira presented himself to the press. The new Genoa coach met the media this afternoon at the “Signorini” sports center and declared: “It was a very quick thing between the club and me. When I heard that there was the possibility of coming to coach a big club I couldn’t say no. The will to work and do well is there I found a very proud group at work, I saw a group that wanted to do well for society.”

Obviously the French coach also had to answer the question about Balotelli: “I know Mario very well, he is a player and a person that I like. He must continue to work and be available to the team, helping them to do well and win. He is an important player but he must continue to work.”

Present Sports director Marco Ottolini was also in the conference: “Before introducing the new coach, I want to thank coach Gilardino. They have been two successful and intense years. In football there are these situations.” The manager then addressed the issue of the previous coach’s dismissal: “I have been here since the end of July two years ago and all decisions at a technical level have passed through my desk. All decisions are taken in a collegial manner and there must be a consensus. I am primarily responsible.”
