There is also room for the off-field aspect during the chat, as to the idea of what he would have become if he hadn’t been a footballer: “I probably would have worn the uniform of the Guardia Civil. My father and his two brothers wear that uniform and so does the youngest of my two sisters, Amalia, she is studying to join the Guardia Civil. I like the values that that body is inspired by, I like the order”. A sad parenthesis also concerns the terrible damage caused by bad weather in the areas close to his home: “Olivares, my town, was saved: but it was a mess all around. I experienced it from here and when the images were scrolling on TV I was moved by the disaster. The Spanish people have once again demonstrated that they are a great people: so much solidarity, so many volunteers who came from all parts of the country to lend a hand to those who have lost everything.”
