Thijs DallingaBologna center forward, al Corriere dello Sport today he explains his initial difficulties in his new adventure in Serie A like this: “Here people live for football, but it’s not a negative pressure, it’s a stimulus and I like it a lot. They tell me they’re waiting for my goals, but I they say in a positive way. The difficulties? I would have already changed it, because if one of the two disallowed goals had been correct it would have been easier aspect of arriving in a new country, in a new championship, there are high expectations and you have to find your way, you have to get used to a new language, to a new team: all this is part of the reason why, perhaps, it’s not going as I would have liked before.”
Even his compatriot and former Bologna player Zirkzee, now at Manchester United, took some time before starting to score goals and fully show his qualities in Serie A.
“Yes, I heard that he also had problems in his first season here. I think we are two completely different people, but maybe some of the little initial problems that I have now are the same. This is football. You don’t have time to adapt : your club pays a lot of money for you, people expect you to score and play well directly and they support you; for this reason I want to do the same and if I stay positive I can repay Bologna.”
Joshua, who came to the hotel in Liverpool to say goodbye to his old teammates, gave her some advice on the eve of that Champions League match?
“Everyone wanted to talk to him so it got quite late and I didn’t talk to him much. We didn’t discuss the Bologna topic in depth, but more than anything else he told me about the match against Liverpool, which he had already faced in the season, explaining to me that it had been a very difficult race.”
