Lucchese, confidence in Gorgone confirmed. The club: “Maximum unity for the goal of salvation”

Official

With a long statement published on its website, Lucchese takes stock of what has happened in the last few days and confirms its trust in the Gorgone coach who had announced his resignation after the heavy defeat against Ternana. This is the note from the Tuscans:

“Lucchese 1905 intends to clarify the events of the last few hours.

At the end of the last match against Ternana, the coach Giorgio Gorgoneinside the locker room, communicated his decision to take a step back, resigning with great honesty to the team and sporting director Claudio Ferrarese. A choice which, as the coach himself later underlined in the press conference, does not represent a sign of surrender – an attitude far from his style – but an act of responsibility for the good of Lucchese. The declared objective was to remove any alibi for the players and shake up the environment, encouraging a collective reaction, always for the good of the team and Lucchese.

After these statements the team reacted firmly, expressing their opposition to the coach’s decision. The players have expressed their willingness to personally take responsibility for the latest results, even offering to speak directly in the press room. The sporting director, Claudio Ferrarese, also reiterated with clarity and conviction the desire to continue the journey with the coach, confirming the trust and esteem that unites the group and the coach. This unequivocal signal led both the coach and the club to reflect deeply. In the last two days the parties have discussed several times, reaching the common decision to continue together.

It must be reiterated that Mister Gorgone has always shown that the economic aspect has never been a priority for him. Already in June he had communicated to President Bulgarella that, if he was not considered in line with the project, he would renounce the contract. During the summer he refused more advantageous offers to stay in Lucca, convinced of the path he had undertaken with the team. For this reason, the hypothesis that resignation or dismissal are linked to economic reasons is completely unfounded. The consistency demonstrated in recent months is testimony to the dedication and integrity of the coach.

Furthermore, from a corporate point of view, there would have been no problem in respecting the contract and changing coachbut this was not considered the most suitable solution to face the difficult moment. The company believes, in fact, that the negative results are not attributable exclusively to the technician, but represent a collective responsibility. This concept was also clearly reiterated by the gestures and words of the team.

A further important aspect concerns seasonal objectives. Before the opening of the transfer market, the club and the sporting director had planned to set up a team with higher ambitions. However, due to various dynamics, we were unable to materialize some situations that had been foreseen. Consequently, also in light of the results – which represent an unappealable signal – the team’s main objective is now to save and maintain the category.

In light of these considerations, Lucchese 1905 officially announces that it has renewed its trust in mister Giorgio Gorgone, who will return to direct training from this afternoon.

The club asks its fans and the local press to stand together in this delicate momentworking together to escape this negative spiral. In this regard, tomorrow, Thursday 21 November, sporting director Claudio Ferrarese will meet the fans to take stock of the situation and listen to them, with the aim of everyone rowing in the same direction.

Furthermore, on the occasion of the match against Pontedera, the club decided to give a strong message to its supporters. For this match, tickets will be offered at heavily discounted prices: West Curve €5, Grandstand €8, Grandstand €10, prices including advance sales. The sale will begin, both online and at the ticket office, from 4.00 pm on Wednesday 20 November”.
