Tense stories between Lecce and the Zambian Football Federation. It’s the fault of… Lameck Gang and of the African national team’s desire to have their striker available, despite the fact that the Salento team had already reported an unavailability caused by an injury.
And so a real media case (and chaos) broke out between the interested parties. This can be seen from the official press release published by Lecce: US Lecce announces that the footballer Lameck Banda, although medical visits with diagnostic tests were immediately scheduled following the injury which occurred in the Lecce – Empoli match on 8 November last, following morning, in compliance with FIFA regulations, as requested by the Zambian national team, he had to leave Lecce to respond to the call-up”.
And again: “The Zambian Football Federation requested the presence of the player despite the club’s expressed desire not to let the athlete leave due to the said injury. The player, after undergoing medical examinations by the national team staff which highlighted the fracture of the medial malleolus of the left ankle, was only authorized yesterday evening for his early return to Lecce where he immediately underwent a CT scan at the “Quarta Colosso” Radiology Studio in Lecce, which confirmed the diagnosis. The player will have to undergo it in the next few days to surgery”. A long stop is therefore expected for Banda, estimated at 2 or 3 months.
