Did Vlahovic exaggerate about Motta’s game? The thoughts of the commentators

The words of Dusan Vlahovic after Serbia’s last match they caused discussion (and anger), especially Juventus fans. For many they seemed like a criticism of Thiago Motta’s game and his use in black and white. However, here is how the commentators read these statements TMW Radio:

Fabrizio Romondini: “I’m with Motta, because that’s what he chooses and you must always make yourself available. There must be respect for roles. Certain statements would make me angry and I would seek a different discussion with the coach.”

Antonio Di Gennaro: “How did he play in Fiorentina, with two strikers? He played with just one striker there too, a central striker with two wingers. All these players talk, but I ask myself: what did Vlahovic win? You play at Juve, they bought you for 80 million ln in January, you earn 12 million a year and you come to tell me that you want a second striker? We said before that Allegri was harmful for him, now he’s not good with Motta either? So if you find him a coach, maybe he’s not the phenomenon we all thought he was. Why bring up certain topics? I don’t like that either let’s go to the national team and throw these bombs. Juve has invested a lot in him, now after Allegri he doesn’t even go with Motta? Does that mean that technically Thuram is not what we expected?

Roberto Tricella: “From the tone of his voice he doesn’t seem polemical to me at all. Then, thinking about it, it must be said that most likely, given the type of player he is, he would struggle less with another striker nearby. Maybe he doesn’t feel it is in his power to interpret Motta’s football hasn’t turned out to be the extraordinary player he was thought to be. Maybe he’s not in the category of the greats. He said a truth, he’s better off with another striker next to him, but I don’t know if it’s a warning I see it that way. For me, however, it is not good to give certain interviews. I remember that in Fiorentina Vlahovic played much deeper, while today he plays more in narrow spaces. I remember him being devastating at speed open field, those few times he goes there.”

Massimo Orlando: “I had said that there was no feeling with Motta, that he doesn’t appreciate him as a player. If they managed to give him away at acceptable prices in January, I think they would throw themselves at Zirkzee. I also don’t see anything wrong in his words, it seemed spontaneous to me, but it is clear that he raised a problem that exists between him and the way of playing that Motta asks for. I think that between him and Juve, if there is the will to move forward with Motta, for me if a good offer will arrive in January and will leave.”

Gigi Cagni: “He said something bullshit. He can say it but to the coach, not like that. For me he’s a good guy, so go back and talk about it with the coach, why go and tell it around? As a coach I would tell him like that.”

Stefano Impallomeni: “I didn’t see any polemical streak in it. A fuss arose, but I don’t understand why. He’s an instinctive boy, he analyzed and explained this situation, but he didn’t say that Motta is an idiot or anything else. He didn’t want to attack Motta, he said how he sees it at the moment, he is a boy who needs to be protected, in my opinion, he wants to make it clear that if he is the problem, despite scoring the goals, he can talk about it in January and he can go away. He told his truth, but I don’t see anything controversial with Motta.”
